The Team
Llanfair serves the community of Penrhys because of the commitment of more than twenty volunteers. Most of these live in Penrhys but others come from various parts of the Rhondda. Their commitment helps Llanfair to be part of the community. Llanfair is fortunate that it has four flats above the main part of the community projects.
Sharon Rees
Sharon was born in Alltwen in the Swansea valley and lives in one of the flats. She is the education worker and has served Llanfair since 1991. She was awarded a Gwisg Las at the National Eisteddfod Gorsedd y Beirdd in 2012.
Neil Thomas
Neil is a voluntary volunteer co-ordinator who also acts as a point of contact between the community and the Local Authority and Housing Association. He lives in Penrhys and has 3 daughters who also volunteer in the Church
Rev. Peter Noble
Peter, a former Moderator for the National Synod of Wales served Llanfair as Minister until he retired in December 2020. He continues to offer some oversight to Llanfair, particularly in his contribution to the Nurture Group.
Rebecca Lalbiaksangi and Miara Rabearisoa
Rebecca and her husband Miara are a truly international couple and lived in Llanfair between 2011 and 2019. Rebecca was a Partner In Mission through the Council for world Mission (CWM) and she comes from the Presbyterian Church of India – Mizoram Synod in the north eastern part of India. She met Miara, a skilled lawyer, in Madagascar. Miara served as a volunteer in Penrhys. They moved (along with their 2 children Hannah and Seren) in 2019 to serve the Presbyterian Church in mid Wales but continue to maintain their links with Llanfair, particularly in its relationship with Madagascar.
